About MMAI
The Motoring Media Association of Ireland (MMAI) is Ireland’s leading association of motoring journalists. We have over 30 members representing over 100 media outlets, including some of Ireland’s most popular newspapers, magazines, radio stations, websites, blogs and YouTube channels.
Every year our members come together to vote in the Irish Car of the Year and Irish Van of the Year awards, Ireland’s most prestigious motoring accolades for over 40 years.
Created to be modern and inclusive, we value the contribution all our members make to our Association and the audiences they report on behalf of across Ireland’s local, regional and national media.
What we do
Act as a voice for professional motoring journalists in Ireland.
Promote independent, accurate reporting and the highest standards in motoring journalism.
Encourage cooperation between our members and motor industry public relations officers.
Our history
The MMAI was formed in 2022 as the result of a merger between the Irish Motoring Writers Association and the Association of Professional Motoring Press.
The roots of our Association can be traced back to the 1970s, when the first motoring writers’ group was established. During that time, some of Ireland’s most respected motoring journalists have passed through our ranks.
As a new Association, we build on the great traditions and values of our former associations, while working together to represent all our members and continue to promote independent, accurate reporting and the highest standards in motoring journalism across all platforms.
